Traveller, Full-Time Freelancer And Expat Living Abroad.
I share my personal tips on travelling smart, working from anywhere, and living simply — based on my own experiences.
Hello there, I’m Janet. South African-born, now living in Europe, and still occasionally wonder how I ended up building a life across the world from where I started.
This blog is where I share how I travel on a budget, work from anywhere, and live simply — part journal, part survival guide, part “let me save you some trouble.”
I’ve been living in Europe for over a decade, working as a full time freelancer across web design, coaching & mentoring including digital support for solo entrepreneurs and small businesses.
And yes travelling when I can (with a suitcase full of adapters and a slight obsession with local street foods).
How It All Started
In my early 20s, I worked on a luxury cruise liner sailing the Mediterranean. Somewhere between port stops and polishing silver, I realised travel didn’t have to be a once-a-year event — it could be a way of life.
I’ve travelled to over 25 countries, built a career I can take with me, and found ways to make long-term travel sustainable (without being filthy rich or burnt out).
What You Will Find
I will also provide some reviews of places I have stayed at.
What This Blog Is Not!
You won’t find perfect itineraries or dreamy lifestyle shots here.
- No hostel reviews. No clickbait. No “I quit my job to travel the world” drama (that is not as simple as it sounds, I promise).
- Just realistic budget friendly travel tips, flexible work, and figuring out how to build a life you love based on my own experiences.

You can usually find me pretending my coffee break counts as culture. Come say hi on social media.
